A multidisciplinary team: a plus! a chance!

At Douces Maternelles, we choose to work with multidisciplinary teams because all fields are complementary and essential to perfect our everyday support.

Our team consists of teachers, early childcare workers, psychologists… and also occupational therapists, psychomotricians, psychology and child development caretakers….

As education professionals in development, education and child psychology work hand in hand to offer all our young pupils the best chances of success and integration.

Our teaching team is composed of qualified teachers trained in «classical» methods but who wanted to give a new impetus to their profession by mobilizing their knowledge and skills to further deepen individual and personalized support in classes with small numbers, while regularly training in active pedagogy methods such as Reggio Emilia and Montessori implemented in our schools.

Some of our teachers have spent part of their careers in Reggio Emilia or Montessori schools and have chosen to continue their careers in our Douces Maternelles schools to support classes with small class sizes and maximize individual relationships with each child. This allows us to work closely with each child's needs, focusing on both emotional and cognitive development, as well as learning.

We also encourage the presence of Early Childhood Educators in our schools to offer personalized support for children transitioning from daycare or home care, facilitating a smooth transition to school.

Indeed, we recognize that a child around 2/3 years old may still struggle with separation and adapting to the rules of communal living. These early childhood professionals, particularly in child development, create the necessary conditions (space arrangement, child support, fostering independence, parent-child relationships) to help the child adapt to this new community life. It also involves being attentive, recognizing the child's challenges or strengths, and taking a proactive approach to prevent or identify developmental issues.

It also sometimes involves our Early Childhood Educators serving as interpreters! They help 'translate' certain behaviors that may sometimes challenge teachers, even though these behaviors are often entirely normal for children of this age but may be misunderstood.

The educational team is diverse, complementing each other on many aspects of psychological and cognitive development.

We also have the support of a psychologist specializing in early childhood. She regularly observes and continues her work with the teams during a meeting where all professionals are invited to share their observations and experiences. It's a very enriching moment of sharing and questioning.

Finally, we regularly welcome other types of professionals for children who may experience difficulties in psychomotor skills, handwriting, or attention at some point. In the school setting, the goal is to allow the child to receive support within the school environment without the need for external appointments. This also enables our educational team to collaborate with these professionals and adapt our support.

This diversity has greatly enriched me since I joined Douces Maternelles because the sharing of knowledge and observations is a real advantage in our daily work with children.

It has often allowed us to adjust our attitudes, words, actions, tasks, and even workshops. A true source of knowledge and energy.

What a privilege!
